Woodstock to Trout Pond by FOOT

Wil Kohlbrenner sent us the following ped directions in case you wanted to add a little extra mileage. Mileage: Unknown.

From anywhere along US-11 (Main St) run north on US-11 to Maurertown.
At the north end of Maurertown, turn west on the Tuscarora Tr where it crosses the road.
Follow the Tuscarora on back roads near Woodstock, then up onto Little North Mountain in Fetzer Gap, where you cross SR600, and continue along the ridge of Little North Mountain, and down to Sheffer Gap.
Continue down through the gap and cross Cedar Creek, then up from the creek to cross Cedar Creek Tr on FR1863. Continue on a very steep climb to the ridge of Paddy Mountain, turning west along the ridge to a gap between Paddy and Little Sluice mountains, where Old Mailpath Tr joins from the right.
Continue on Tuscarora Trail, angling down the west slope of Little North Mountain, to an intersection with the Little North Mountain and Racer Camp Hollow trails on a saddle between Little North Mtn and Sugar Knob.
Continue on Tuscarora Trail, over the slope of Sugar Knob and down to a saddle between Sugar Knob and Mill Mtn, where Little Stoney Creek Tr joins from the left.
Continue on Tuscarora Trail up on to Mill Mtn until you meet the Mill Mtn
Tr on the left. Turn right here, staying on the Tuscarora and skirting the north end of Mill Mtn and dropping into a saddle between Mill Mtn and Halfmoon Mtn, where the Halfmoon Tr joins on the left.
Continue on Tuscarora Tr, descending in the hollow formed by Pond Run toWaites Run Rd.
Turn left, follow Waites Run Rd to the Capon and Bucktail trails on the left.
Turn left, follow Bucktail Trail into the hollow formed by Halfmoon Run, then around the end of Halfmoon Mtn, passing the Bucktail Cutoff Tr on the left, to the parking loop for Bucktail Trail. Follow the trail down the entry road to Trout Run Rd (CR23/10).
From here, you can run on roads using the driving directions, or:
Cross CR23/10, and follow the Long Mtn Tr, crossing Trout Run at a ford, then ascending onto Cherry Ridge, over the ridge and down to a saddle between Cherry Ridge and Long Mountain, then descend into the hollow west of Long Mountain and run up the hollow to an eventual intersection with the Trout Pond Tr on the right.
Turn right on Trout Pond Tr, passing the Chimney Rock Tr on the right, and ending at the paved road in Trout Pond Rec Area.
Turn right on the paved road and follow it down to where an unblazed trail crosses the road (crosswalk).
Turn right on the unblazed trail and follow it down to the paved road near the beach and bathhouse.
